Westchester Man Busted For Alleged DWI After Being Spotted Driving Erratically

A 30-year-old man from Westchester is facing charges after being found allegedly driving erratically while he was drunk, police said.

Officers from the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to canvas the area of Mamaroneck Road and Post Road shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, where there were multiple reports of an erratic driver.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2004 Nissan Sentra with front end damage unable to stay in its lane on Post Road near the intersection of Gotham Road, prompting a traffic stop.

Police said the driver, Ulises Godinez, of Mamaroneck, was ordered to exit the vehicle, and he was extremely instead and nearly fell over. He proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and refused to submit to a breathalyzer, leading to his arrest for driving while intoxicated.

Godinez was transported to Scarsdale Police Headquarters and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Both misdemeanors. He was also cited for failing to maintain his lane, operating a motor vehicle as an unlicensed driver, refusal to take a breath test and driving without a seat belt.

According to police, following his processing, Godinez was released to his wife and scheduled to appear in Scarsdale Village Court on Wednesday, Sept. 11.
